NEW: 2008 Ramadhan Iftaar Assistance Appeal

Click here to read my interview with Jaffery Magazine from Canada. All that has been printed is true, except that I am no humanitarian. Simply put, I am an opportunist, for my personal aims is nothing but selfish attempts to atone for the many sins me as a mere human daily commit.

There are many things and issues that a Muslim can tolerate; we have to be accepting of change in the world. As long as the change and advances in the name of modernity do not affect our basic belief, we must accept them and even incorporate them in our lives.

What we cannot and will not accept, is the loss of core beliefs as a Muslim, whether in ourselves or a fellow Muslim or Mo'meen. Yet, this is exactly what poverty does. Poverty is the cancer that causes ignorance and ignorance is loss of imaan. Poverty will cause one to lose imaan, this is an undisputed fact!

With this vital truth as a reflection,

My name is Yusuf Yusufali (Ali). I formed Comfort Aid International to formalize my charitable projects all over the world, especially India and Afghanistan. This website is to communicate the most up to date information on what and where my current projects are. Hopefully, this will lead to action on your part and you will support them.

I began to work with the poor and destitute in India in 1996. My involvement was not planned; rather a spontaneous reaction to provide a life line to one who is drowning in despair and helplessness. A small gesture more than twelve years ago years ago has now become a steady flow of support that is pregnant with promise of a better tomorrow, insha’Allah. Together, with progressive donors like you, we have transformed many hundreds of lives. All praise to Allah (SWT).

The emphasis of my projects are geared primarily towards education, for I am a firm believer this medium is the only sure way out of poverty and an opportunity for a better tomorrow. Next come housing, for without a roof, water and light to read, teaching a child is meaningless. Care of orphans, widows and those marginalized due to natural disasters or conflict are our natural concern. We also provide basic Iftaar food grains during Ramadhan, when about 10,000 destitute homes are provided with basic rations worth $23.00 (2008 forecast) each; CAI quota is 5,000 homes for 2008. Basic and life saving medical care, water wells, emergency situations etc follow.

I also take in the following funds: khums, zakaat, sadeqa, imam zamin etc; these are dispersed as per certain, very exacting guidelines. Aga Seestani (may Allah SWT keep him) has given me an open Ijaaza to collect up to US $2,000,000 per annum of khums money, as long as 50% sehme Imam (AS) portion is deposited into his account for use in India/Afghanistan. Please click here to view a copy of the Ijaazas. Additionally, CAI is registered in the US as a charity and will issue tax deductible receipts for your support.

I urge you read more about the projects and find it in your heart to support them. I work with existing charities everywhere, using their logistics to achieve my goals. Comfort Aid International is a totally administration-cost free organization; 100% of donations are put to work into the project, none deducted for administrative costs.
