CAI 16th Annual Ramadhan Iftaar Appeal:
The holy month of mercy, blessings, forgiveness and sacrifice is almost upon us and CAI is gearing up for the annual ritual of helping the most needy and vulnerable with a little relief in the form of iftaar rations. CAI will, insha'Allah, distribute iftaar food packages to about 4,600 such families; 2,300 in Afghanistan and 2,300 in India:
Afghanistan: 50kg bag atta 1.5 liter of cooking oil Each package will cost approximately USD28, including steep freight to some very remote areas. Distribution breakdown by area is: Belkhaab - 500, Sacheck - 320, Sar Pol - 500, Rishcore - 230, YawKawlang - 230, Heraat - 320 and Sulej - 200. In areas (Rishcore, Heraat) where freight is not a great issue, a 3kg bag of sugar and 1/2kg of tea will also be included. India: Rice - 10kg, Atta - 5kg, Sugar - 2kg, Various daals - 4kg, Tea - 1/4kg, Cooking oil - 2kg and Salt -1kg. Each package will cost approximately USD19; these will be distributed in Uttar Pradesh, Bihaar and Kargil. CAI needs to raise about USD110,000 in order to achieve her goals of helping these poor and hapless people get some relief during the holy month. Our aim is to have the iftaar packages distributed before Ramadhan begins. We have already begun negotiating with vendors for bulk purchase discounts as prices will inevitable go up nearer to the holy month. It is my earnest appeal to all our supporters and well wishers to please sponsor as many families as possible and commit your funds now so that we may, once again, together, make this a successful year in service and pleasure of Allah (S). |
