Pakistan Flood Relief Update (Whole)

Just imagine how this month of Ramadhan must be going for the victims of Pakistan flooding. Entire villages have simply disappeared, people, homes and animals washed away, leaving nothing. Large families have become beggars overnight, desperately fighting for scraps of what little food they can scavenge from bags thrown by government helicopters.

Comfort Aid International has been able to send USD50,000 for flood victims thus far; mostly food grains for those that have lost everything. Once this need for basic food supplies is assured, help in the form of tents will commence. Another urgent need is for medicines, for there is now a serious threat from water borne illnesses -typhoid, cholera and dysentery. Gulaambhai Virjee from Dubai and I (visas waived by the Government of Pakistan for aid workers) will be leaving for Islamabad on September 4th insha'Allah to get firsthand account of the situation there and plan further action.

CAI needs your continued support for helping the victims in this calamity. CAI has pledges and donations of USD36,000 so we are in deficit at this time. We appeal to you - please, please help, these poor hapless people need your assistance. Also, circulate this appeal far and wide, an act of charity that will be returned to you at least 70 times this month.
